Chicken shawarma



Chicken shawarma, is a popular Middle Eastern street food that's easy to make at home Here's a recipe for making chicken shawarma.



 Ingredients for  Chicken marination and preparation

Chicken - 250 gram
Red chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
Yogurt - 1 tablespoon
Salt as per taste
Lemon 1/2 

PREPARATION

STEP 1;  Marinate the chicken with chilli powder, coriander powder. turmeric, lemon salt, butter, Ginger garlic paste yogurt and garam masala, mix it well. for best result marinate for overnight keep it in refrirator.
Step 2;  Heat a tawa in low flame, pour sour some oil, Add the chicken one by one cover with lids cook it for 10 minutes. flip it over cook for another 10 minutes or until chicken gets soft, tender and moisture.  

In oven

Preheat your oven tp 425 degree Fahrenheit. spead the marinated chicken on the baking sheet and bake for 20 - 25 minutes or until chicken is cooked through and slightly browned.

Ingredients for peta bread

3 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon yeast
1 teaspoon of sugar
Salt per taste


Activate the yeast 

In bowl pour 1 cup Luke warm water, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1 table spoon of active yeast rest for five minutes, or wait until yeast get activate.

Preparation of peta bread

Step 1; In large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt, mix well
Step 2; Add the activated yeast warm water and more warm water to the dry ingredients and mix untill a dough forms.
Step 3; Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Step 4; Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a damp towel. Let it rise in a warm place about 1 hour, or until it double in size.
Step 5; Divide the dough into equal parts and roll each piece into a ball.
Step 6; On a floured surface, flatten each ball with a rolling pin until it is about 1/4 inch thick.
Step 7; Heat a griddle, place the flattened dough on the top. cook until they puff up and start turns golden spots. Remove from the griddle.

Home made sauce (optional)

2table spoon of mayonnaise. 2 tablespoon of chilli sauce, pinch of pepper, pinch of salt,  Combine it all together. apply on it or mix it with chicken.  we can use instead of yogurt,  tahini sauce, hummus, ranch

Peta bread is ready 

Ready to assemble the shawarma

Step 1; In hot peta bread, add the cooked chicken and your desired toppings, such as pickles, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, yogurt, tahini sauce or hummus.
Step 2 ;  Roll up the pita bread tightly, tucking in the side as you go.

Serve immediately and enjoy your Chicken shawarma
